Assignments walkthrough video
Before you begin: Create your groups
To use the Assignments functionality, you must first create Groups. For a step-by-step guide on how to create Groups, please refer to our Dashboard walkthrough.
Where to find the Assignments feature
Once you have your groups set up, you can access the Assignments feature.
For educators: Navigate to the specific Group you wish to manage. Within your Group's Dashboard, you will find an Assignments section. This is where you can view all assignments you have created for that group.
For students: Students can view their assignments directly on their homepage under the My Assignments tab (located where the My Journey section is). They can also access all assignments through the Assignments tab in their navigation bar.
How to create a new assignment
Follow these steps to create a new assignment from the Group Dashboard:
Click "New Assignment": From your group's Assignments section, click the New assignment button.
Choose content: Select the Level All content you wish to assign. You can choose from:
Journeys
Projects
Collections
Articles
Select students: Decide which students will receive this assignment:
All students in your group: Assign the content to everyone in the selected Group.
Select individual students: Choose specific students from your Group.
Enter assignment details: Build out your assignment by completing these fields:
Title: The title will automatically populate with the name of the chosen content. You can customize this title to better suit your needs.
Description (Optional): Add a description to provide students with more context or instructions for the assignment. You can also provide links here you want students to reference or submit additional work through.
Due Date: Set a specific due date for the assignment.
Allow Late Submissions (Optional): Check this box if you wish to allow students to submit the assignment after the due date.
Assign, Schedule, or Save: Once you have filled in all the details, you have three options:
Assign it right away: Immediately make the assignment available to students.
Schedule it for later: Choose a future date and time for the assignment to become active.
Save it as a draft: Save the assignment to come back and finalize it later.
What happens next?
Notifications: Both educators and students will receive notifications (via the in-app bell on the top menu bar and email) when an assignment is created or completed.
Tracking progress: As students work through the assigned material, their progress will automatically be reflected on your educator dashboard. You can view overall student progress and detailed completion times.
Automatic closure: Once all assigned students have completed their work, the assignment will automatically close.
